Orange County Triathlon Event Timeline

LOCATION: Swim start, T1 (swim/bike transition) and race finish at Lake Mission Viejo, The City of Mission Viejo, Calif.

DIRECTIONS: To Lake Mission Viejo - From the 5 Freeway – Alicia Pkwy (North) to Olympiad (left) to Lake Mission Viejo and parking; or 241 Toll Rd to Portola Exit (South), Portola becomes Santa Margarita Pkwy, continue to Melinda (right) to Olympiad (right). Note: Marguerite Pkwy with be closed to all thru traffic from El Toro Rd to Alicia Pkwy from 5am to 11am

Directions to T2 -from the Lake: Olympiad (east) to Melinda (north), to Santa Margarita Pkwy (west) to El Toro Rd. (north), to Saddleback Church/Marguerite Pkwy and Aliso Creek Bike Trail. After the race, take Marguerite Pkwy directly to El Toro Rd.

PARKING:
 parking for the run equipment drop-off on Saturday May 21st and bike pickup post race will be at the Mammoth Business Building parking lot (kitty-corner to the T2 Bike/Run transition site at El Toro Rd & Marguerite Pkwy).                                                                                            

 Race Day Parking will be at the Lake property (400 spaces- fee), at the Youth Athletic Fields (300 spaces) across the street from the lake entrance, and at the Joyner Park (200 spaces), ¼ mile east of the lake on Olympiad Rd. Also on Olympiad and Melinda (the City's suppose to cover the no parking signs). Carpool if at all possible. Please use these lots and do not park in residential areas. Respect the residents- you’ll be arriving very early in the morning; please be quite and do not litter.

    11:59pm        Online Registration/Active.com closes
Friday  5/20
    8:00am           Setup begins-volunteers very welcomed LMV, contact billleach@sbcglobal.net
Saturday 5/21
    8:00am           Finish Setup T2- volunteers needed
    10:45am         Course Talk/ Q&A with Martha and Russ, Courtyard Marriot
    11:00am         Packet Pickup opens/Late Registration if available/Expo Courtyard Marriot                 (mandatory)
    11:15am        T2 opens for Shoe Drop (must have race bib) (mandatory triathletes only)
    6:00pm           Packet Pickup closes
Sunday 5/22
    5:00am           LMV parking lots open, T1 opens
    6:00am           Raceday PREPAID Packet Pickup closes (at mobile home LMV)
    6-7:00am       Raceday Registration for SWIM and AQUATHLON only, if avail.
    6:30am           T1 closes, everyone to swim start area
    7:00am        OCTriathlon Starts
    7:15am        OCDuathlon Starts (at T2!!)
    7:35am        1500 meter Open Water Swim Start
    8:15 am       OCAquathlon Start
    8:30am            1st Aquathlete on Run
    8:30am            Last Biker on course
    8:50am            Last Aquathlete Finishes
    8:50am            1st Triathlete/Duathlete Finishes
    10:00am           Awards Ceremony
    10:30am          LMV parking lot opens for departure (atheltic field parking always open)
    10:30am          Last Runner, roads open
    12:30pm          T2 closes, all bikes picked up, cleanup
    12:30-2pm      Clean T2 then T1-volunteers most very appreciated!!!!
 
Monday 5/23
    8:00am             Finish Cleanup/Teardown LMV--luv u volunteers
 



Please mark all of your gear and be careful to pick up only yours. Do Not Park On El Toro Road!!! Use Mammoth Office lots and watch out for speedy cars too.
